Professor Cai Jing and Professor Li Tian from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Visit Our Hospital

On March 2nd, Professor Cai Jing, Chair Professor and Head of the Department of Health Technology and Informatics, and Professor Li Tian, Assistant Professor from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), visited the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University(FAHWMU for short), accompanied by Ms. Hu Jun, Central Administrative Director of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University-Wenzhou Technology and Innovation Research Institute. The meeting was attended by Professor Jin Xiance, Director of Wenzhou Medical University Library and Journal Publishing House, also Vice President of FAHWMU; heads and experts from the Department of Information Management and Computer Science, School of Information and Engineering, Wenzhou Medical University; directors and experts from clinical and technical departments including the Department of Radiation Oncology and the Department of Radiology; as well as directors from functional divisions such as the Dept.of Information  and the Dept.of Cooperation and Communication .

      During the meeting, Professor Jin Xiance extended a warm welcome to Professor Cai Jing and his delegation on behalf of the hospital, and systematically introduced our hospital's development history, disciplinary construction, scientific research achievements, informatization development, and international exchanges and cooperation. He noted that our hospital has made positive progress in medical technology innovation, clinical research, and smart healthcare construction in recent years, and expressed the hope that in-depth cooperation with PolyU could further promote medtech integration and enhance capabilities in scientific research and clinical translation.

      Professor Cai Jing presented PolyU's strengths, distinctive features, and development vision in fields such as medical technology, artificial intelligence, medical imaging, and health informatics.

      During the discussion session, both sides engaged in in-depth conversations on talent cultivation (including doctoral and master's students), scientific research collaboration (covering areas such as medical imaging, tumor radiotherapy, and PET-CT applications), achievement translation, and summer student exchange programs. The two parties agreed that by leveraging PolyU's advantages in engineering technology and our hospital's profound clinical expertise, future cooperation could be expanded across multiple dimensions including talent development, scientific research, and clinical practice, facilitating the implementation of more high-quality outcomes.

      Following the meeting, the delegation conducted site visits to key areas of our hospital including the South Hall, simulated consultation rooms, the Hospital History Museum, the Department of Radiology, and the Radiotherapy Center. They highly commended our hospital's advanced medical equipment, extensive scale, standardized management processes, achievements in informatization, and high-level clinical service capabilities. The experts showed particular interest in the equipment configuration, image data processing capabilities, and application of tumor radiotherapy technologies in the Department of Radiology and Radiotherapy Center, expressing hopes for future in-depth collaboration in areas such as AI-assisted medical imaging diagnosis and tumor radiotherapy technologies.

  The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is one of Hong Kong's oldest higher education institutions, emphasizing application-oriented research and committed to education, research, and knowledge transfer that contribute to society. The university has established joint research centers with renowned corporations including Microsoft, Boeing, State Grid, Huawei, and Alibaba, while maintaining close academic and teaching collaborations with prestigious institutions worldwide such as Stanford University, University of Cambridge, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In September 2024, PolyU established The Hong Kong Polytechnic University-Wenzhou Technology and Innovation Research Institute in Wenzhou, further deepening industry-university-research cooperation with mainland universities and medical institutions to promote technological achievement translation and regional innovation development.
