Wenzhou local socialites including Yang Yusheng, Wu Bihua, Pan Jianzong, Huang Suchu, established “Ou-Hai Hospital” in Chen house in No.58 Gulu Lane, and employed several famous doctors, providing medical care for the people with modern western medicine.

After the peaceful liberation of Wenzhou City, Ouhai Hospital was renamed "Wenzhou Hospital of Zhejiang Province".

The hospital was renamed as the "Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical College", and undertook the teaching tasks and regional medical tasks at the same time.

Abdominal Surgery written by Professor Qian Li was published. It is one of the earliest monographs published in the field of abdominal surgery in China and has influenced a generation of surgeons in China.

The logarithmic visual acuity chart and five grade notation of Professor Miao Tianrong won the "National Science Conference Award". Wenzhou Medical College was authorized to confer master’s degree.

With the approval of the People's Government of Zhejiang Province , the hospital was renamed "the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical College". Since then, the new system of provincial hospitals has been realized.

Health Bureau of Zhejiang Provincial announced the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical College as Tertiary First-class Hospital and Provincial Civilized Hospital by issuing the document.

Wenzhou Medical College was authorized to confer doctoral degree.
