​Standardized Training for Resident Physicians

The First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University is the first in the province to carry out standardized training for general physicians. It has achieved the first batch of pilot bases of general specialist training by the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China in 12 disciplines. It was included in the pilot of the new model as the first batch of standardized clinical training bases for resident physicians in Zhejiang Province. It is the first batch of standardized training bases for general practitioners of the National Health and Family Planning Commission. It has 23 approved specialty bases as the first batch of National Health and Family Planning Commission standardized training bases for resident physicians. It has 3 pilot specialty bases of the standardized training system for specialist physicians of the National Health and Health Commission. It is among the first batch of national clinical teaching training demonstration centers. There are 2 professional quality control centers (emergency medicine and neurosurgery) for standardized residency training in Zhejiang Province, and it is the base for the final assessment of clinical practice ability for standardized residency training in Zhejiang Province.

The hospital has three experts who are the vice chairman of the Informationization Committee and the Evaluation Committee of the Executive Committee of the National Biomedical Education Committee, and the vice chairman of the Emergency Medicine Committee of the Post-Graduation Medical Education of the Chinese Medical Association. Five of the university's faculty members have been awarded "Outstanding Specialty Base Director", "Outstanding Teacher", "Outstanding General Practitioner" and "Outstanding Resident Physician" and other honors. In recent years, to improve the quality of training, we have made unremitting exploration and practice in the training system, internal construction with emphasis on information construction, and innovative ideas. The innovative development of "360-degree standardized training assessment system" software, "residency training track management system" and” examination question bank on rotation of the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University” has helped promote the quality management of residency training.

Faculty Capacity and Development

The hospital possesses a massive teaching staff, with more than 821 instructors for residency training, including 171 chief physicians and professors, 364 associate chief physicians and associate professors; 40 doctoral supervisors and 293 master's supervisors. There are nearly 500 people selected for various talent projects at all levels, such as national young experts with outstanding contribution to health planning, experts with special government allowance of the State Council, leading talents in the field of health of Zhejiang Province, and ten thousand people plan of Zhejiang Province.

In order to strengthen the faculty, the hospital actively supports and encourages instructors to participate in international, national, provincial and other levels of faculty training.

The hospital hosts subcommittee training for national residency training backbone teacher training classes in internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology and emergency medicine.

In the more than ten rounds of popularized teacher training programs in Zhejiang Province co-hosted with Wenzhou Medical University, we have sent dozens of instructors to serve as instructors in the teacher training courses in Huzhou, Dongyang, Lishui and Wenzhou stations. We were awarded the title of "Excellent Organizational Unit of Teacher Training for Standardized Residency Training in Zhejiang Province". Since 2017, we have hosted several advanced teacher training courses (the first, second and third modules) in Zhejiang Province.
