The Human Resource Bank was prepared in 2014 and initially affiliated to the Central Laboratory.It began to store samples in 2015. In 2021, it officially left the central laboratory, renamed the Biobank and became an independent department.It has successfully passed the approval of human genetic resources preservation in China (No. BC0006,2022), becoming the second unit in the provincial general hospital in Zhejiang Province to obtain the preservation license in 2022.

The Biobank now covers an area of about 300 square meters. The second phase is under planning and construction. There are 6 full-time personnel in the department, all of whom have biosafety certificates and the post qualification certificate of the Biobank.Among them, one person has pathological diagnosis qualification, one person has pathological technical qualification and pressure vessel operation certificate.The department has16 refrigerators at minus 80 degreeswith automatic blood packaging system, a full set of pathological dehydrator, slicer, embedding machine, large volume gas phase liquid nitrogen tank, automaticimmunohistochemical instrument, digital pathology system and other equipment.

At present, the Biobank is responsible for the collection and processing of various tissue samples at all levels and blood and body fluid samples processingand the collection and processing of paraffin tissue sections.With the enrichment of sample size (type) stored in biobank, the improvement of professional quality and scientific research experimental conditions, it will test all kinds of scientific research and plansto provide value-added services for clinical departments of our hospital (or outside the hospital) in 3-5 years, including project approval, fund (patent) application, paper publication, big data (various omics data) analysis and processing, etc.
