After Huang Weijian, Director of Cardiovascular Department of our hospital was invited to participate in the writing of International Expert Consensus on Permanent HIS Bundle Pacing in 2017 as the only Chinese expert, he was once again invited to participate in the creation of Cardiac Electrophysiology Clinics HIS Bundle Pacing, which was officially published by Elsevier in September this year. As a complete collection of 21 special papers on His bundle pacing, this book gathers the world’s top electrophysiological pacing experts, including Benjamin J. Scherlag, PhD and Kenneth A. Ellenbogen, MD, who are masters in the field of cardiac electrophysiology.

With the comprehensive introduction of the development of HIS bundle pacing in the past hundred years, as well as its research status and development trend, this book is currently the world's highest-level professional book in this field. Huang Weijian was invited to compile an important chapter entitled Pacing Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation Patients with Heart Failure: His Bundle Pacing Combined with Atrioventricular Node Ablation. Members of pacing electrophysiology team, led by Huang Weijian, summarized certain clinical research achievements in recent years and made a sharing in this chapter. With the largest size of sample data of single center as well as abundant practical examples, they expounded the method combining HIS bundle pacing with atrioventricular node ablation to treat patients with heart failure as well as its technical details, which fully reflects the clinical and scientific research strength of the Cardiovascular Department of our hospital.

The Cardiovascular Department of our hospital started the research on HIS bundle pacing as early as 2011 in China. As of now, it has been successfully implanted into more than 1000 patients, with ideal clinical benefits and long-term safety, therefore, it has won the recognition both at home and abroad as the center with the richest clinical experience and the widest and deepest research. The HIS-PURKINJE pacing creatively developed in the past two years has overcome the defects existing in the simple HIS-bundle pacing, thereby driving the physiological pacing to develop toward a more perfect development direction with independent and original research. This technology was displayed in Second International Symposium of HIS-Purkinje Conduction System Pacing held in April this year, attracting more than 300 experts from the United States and China for on-site study, followed by over 20,000 network hits in 22 countries around the world. With continuous influence after the symposium, a number of Chinese and foreign experts from Japan, Hong Kong and other countries come to our hospital successively to learn this technology, which has attracted wide attention at home and abroad. In addition, national-level multi-center research is also in preparation.

Huang Weijian will also attend the Second Annual Symposium of Physiological Pacing to be held in the United States as a bureau member at the end of this year and will give a keynote lecture. On that occasion, he will provide surgical guidance for the famous heart center of the United States, which will greatly enhance the academic influence of our hospital at home and abroad.
