On April 8, a delegation of Canadian experts visited the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University (FAHWMU) to investigate the training program for undergraduate interns in clinical medicine. The delegation comprised Professor Tracey Hillier, Associate Dean of the School of Medicine and Dentistry at University of Alberta and External Executive Director of the Alberta Institute Wenzhou Medical University, and Professor Hollis Lai, Director of Innovation and Quality Improvement at the School of Medicine and Dentistry of the University of Alberta, and a member of the Teaching Committee of the Alberta Institute Wenzhou Medical University.

During their visit, the Canadian experts observed ward practice, attended student symposiums, gave academic lectures, and visited various departments within FAHWMU, including the Radiology Department, Computer & Information Center, and Hospital Museum.

At the meeting, Vice President Wang Meihao welcomed the delegation and introduced the hospital. Prof. Tracey Hillier delivered a lecture on "Modern Approaches to Radiology Teaching for Undergraduate Medicine in the Alberta Institute Wenzhou Medical", while Prof. Hollis Lai gave a lecture on "Education Quality Control and Improvement Systems for Medical Education". They also engaged in an interactive discussion with teachers and students about innovative teaching methods, such as the TBL learning model and student training.

After the meeting, representatives from the Cooperation & Communication Department, Education Department, and Office of the First Clinical Medical School of FAHWMU had a detailed exchange with the Canadian experts on medical student training systems and education methods. They discussed how to further develop medical international education, student exchange programs, joint training, scientific research cooperation, and the application of new clinical technologies.

The University of Alberta, established in 1908 and located in Edmonton, Alberta, is ranked among the top 100 universities worldwide, placing 74th in the 2023 US News World University Rankings. In 2021, our hospital successfully obtained approval for the local innovation sub-project of the China Scholarship Council - Zhejiang Province Health and Pension Service Specialists Project, which we participated in. This further strengthened the personnel exchange, medical education, and scientific research cooperation between our hospital and the University of Alberta.
